Refreshed 2013 MacBook Air Laptop
Apple announced a refresh for its MacBook Air laptops at WWDC recently, which is great news for people looking for a new laptop. The new laptops feature the same build and framework first introduced in 2010, and they’ll be available in both 11.6- and 13.3-inch variants, as before. The primary change to the MacBook Air is the upgraded processor, known as Haswell, which promise vastly improved battery life and some boosts to integrated graphics performance.
With the new processors, Apple is promising 12 hours of battery life for the 13-inch model, and 9 hours for the 11-inch version, a significant upgrade from the seven hours and five hours quoted, respectively, for last year’s models. If you are using a laptop for 12 hours at a time, you definitely should consider looking at MacBook Air 13 cases to protect it from any incidental damage. And I could see why you would be using it so long considering the new Intel HD Graphics 5000 is also said to bring a 40 percent increase in graphics performance, which is great if you’re a casual-dedicated gamer.
As big of a Windows PC fan as I am, may really have to consider the MacBook Air in my current search for a new laptop. As I said before, I really love the hardware design of the products, but as big a fan of the software aspect of it. Don’t get me wrong, you can basically do the exact same things on a Mac that you would want to do on a PC. I still remember using those colorful iMacs and iBooks back in high school, now those things were design monstrosities. But then when I got to college, their new lineup of Mac computers were just beautiful and I loved using them. In fact, whenever I would go to a computer lap or lounge, I would always try to find a Mac before a PC, they were just so fun to play with. But I never found myself looking to buy one, but I think that had more to do with the price tag than anything.
The MacBook Air is one of the most beautiful computers by Apple, or any computer at that. The aluminum case is impeccably designed, almost tailored to accommodate the necessary internal components, while maintaining practical ergonomics. It’s an incredibly thin, svelte, sexy little notebook. The aluminum case seems sturdy and durable, and its mechanics are very similar to the time-test unibody construction of the MacBook Pro. With the new announcement of the refreshed MacBook Air, I believe Apple will still win the title of best laptop design.
