Nathan Sports VITAband Review

VITABand Identification Wristband: Access ID + Cash on-the-go

Nathan Sports has released an ID bracelet but is a little different with the added feature of an electronic payment device as well. The VITAband wristband is made from a durable, waterproof and hypo-allergenic material that comes in both small and large sizes and various colors. Each ID bracelet has a unique identification number with an emergency phone number that first responders can call to access additional personal, allergy, insurance and medical information if you are unable to provide it firsthand. Once you set up your account online with the VITAband, Nathan Sports will send you a personal ID chip that you place in the front of your wristband that has your name, emergency contact and phone number. The information is accessible 24 hours a day, whenever it is needed, as long as you pay the annual subscription to keep the data active.

Another thing you can do with the online account is add funds into a prepaid debit account. You will then receive another chip the same size as the personal ID chip which you can place behind it on your wristband. You can then use your VITAband at thousands of gas stations and convenience stores and use as a form of contactless payment during and after a workout without the need to carry extra cash.

I still remember back in high school when we would go on long runs on the weekends. I would always carry spare cash between my shoes during the runs for food, drinks or an unexpected emergency.  I usually never noticed the money in my shoe, but it definitely wasn’t the most sanitary thing to do.

The main selling point for all identification bracelets is that they give you peace of mind. And it really does. You can never predict what will happen to you during a run on your own or even if you’re with others. But if you’re wearing the Nathan Sports VITAband, you don’t have to worry about who first responders should contact if something happens or get access to your personal information in an emergency. The ability to use the VITAband as a form of contactless payment is just another added benefit. So the next time you head out for a run, make sure to bring your VITAband along with your other usual go-to items like your music and GPS. It’s the smartest and safest thing to do.
