GoScope Clutch – GoPro Hand Grip Review

GoScope Clutch GoPro Hand GripThe GoPro Hero 3 is a very versatile action / sports camera. There is an infinite number of scenarios and situations where this tiny, but high quality camera can be used. You can check out some example videos I created when I first got the GoPro a few months ago. But I still wasn’t satisfied, I wanted to use the GoPro for something more exciting and adventurous. I finally got that opportunity when I was sent a GoPro pole, which is basically a GoPro hand grip to take self photos/videos as well as footage in front of you without having to hold the camera directly. Go Scope has a small lineup of GoPro accessories, specifically the GoScope Clutch, as well as variations of that product with varying lengths of the telescoping pole. A good example of where you may use this accessory is if you wanted footage of yourself skiing, snowboarding or surfing. Since it’s not winter season yet, I attempted to go scuba diving with the GoScope Clutch. I wasn’t able to get much footage, but did find it very useful to capture footage and worked flawlessly. Read on to learn more about the GoScope Clutch.

GoScope ClutchThe design of the GoScope Clutch is very simple, but works very well. The version I received was the shortest one, so it’s basically the handle and the base where you attach the GoPro to. The other GoScopes available at www.go-scope.com are longer so you can get a better/wider view, although I would assume it wouldn’t be as stable as the GoScope Clutch I used. The other benefit to being so small is that it’s very light, only 4 ounces and can fit in a small bag with all of my other GoPro accessories. The handle has this grip on it so that it doesn’t slip off your hands while in wet situations. Speaking of wet, it is waterproof and durable in saltwater, freshwater and snow. The base is designed so that you can actually mount two GoPros on it for two different perspectives. You can have them both facing one direction (don’t know why you would ever do that), but what makes more sense is to have one face forward while the other faces back at you. It’s like recording using the main camera on your smartphone while using the front facing camera at the same time. As the website claims, it is indestructible: made of “forged aluminum and poly-carbonate”. I can’t wait til snowboarding season starts so I can test this out in the snow too. If you already own a GoPro, then I highly recommend this add-on accessory to your gear.
