brand:me T-Shirt Review

2013-04-14 09.45.36I got the opportunity to test and review a t-shirt from brand:me. The shirt itself is just a simple cotton t-shirt with the following colored text: “brand:me” as well as a unique star at the upper left side on the back of the shirt. Like other regular t-shirts, this one is made of cotton, but feels a lot softer than other ones I’ve worn in the past.

What is brand:me? It is a project that is trying to promote one’s self-brand (obviously). What makes you unique from the person next to you? How do you live your life differently, do you make it an effort to help others or possibly learn to be the best person possible each and every day. Whatever you do, each action has a result, positive or negative. And you can either give up and stay down, or learn from it and grow as an individual.

One goal of brand:me is to answer the following question: what has shaped you to become the person that you are today? Ever since I was a little kid, I have always maintained a very quiet, reserved personality, which for the most part hindered my growth and experiences with others. It was in high school where I signed up for cross country and track and field. Although running is technically an individual sport with individual finishing times and places, cross country is still a team sport, you depend on your teammates to perform well and your overall team score determines whether your team wins or loses. By having to work with others, I was able to gain new bonds and friendships, some still lasting to this day. But it also taught me to work hard, stay disciplines and never give up.

I have been able to express myself and build an identity with the help many years of running. I ran competitively for multiple years in high school, followed by more recreational running sporadically the next few years. I decided I would start a blog to follow my transition back to competitive racing which has allowed me to really build my online brand as an expert in all things running.

I wrote this review as a participant of a campaign brought to you by Blog Friendly PR and brand:me clothing. No compensation was received and all opinions are my own.
