Running Socks Product Reviews

I never thought socks would make that much of a difference when it came to running. Whenever I bought running socks, I usually just picked the ones that were cheapest and had the most in a pack. More often, than not, that usually meant the plain looking low-cut cotton socks. Since I started running again a couple of years ago, I’ve learned that socks definitely affects how well you run, or at least how your feet feel during a run. When I ran my first half marathon, I was in pain for most of the 2nd half of the run. In addition to sore and tired legs, my feet were literally on fire! I made the mistake of wearing the wrong pair of running socks during the race. There are many things to consider when looking for the right pair of running socks: fabric, length, technology/features, purpose etc. Learn more about the following running socks below.

PowerSox APF Lo-Cut Running Socks

Each individual PowerSox APF (Anatomical Performance Fit) running sock in the pair is designed to fit the left and right foot, and is labeled appropriately so you don’t get confused. It fits the specific curves of each foot and contours and conforms to the way our toes are aligned in each foot. This allows a better overall fit and performance as well.

One thing I noticed when I first tested out the PowerSox APF running socks is that they are thicker than other socks I’ve used before. However, with that extra cushioning, my feet did feel a lot more comfortable and protected during the run. In addition to comfort, the socks offer excellent durability and wicking performance for those extra strenuous activities. The running socks are very snug on the feet and are a perfect length (I’ve ran a number of ankle socks that seem to slip into my shoes, which is just annoying!)

Materials: 90% Polyester, 9% Nylon, 1% Spandex

Zensah Trail Running Socks

Zensah, which is more commonly known for their compression socks, also offers trail running socks that’s a great complement to your current trail running and hiking gear. The Zensah trail running socks use super-soft, synthetic fabric and is about mid-shin length. Although the length has the ability to protect your legs from rocks, branches, etc. while you’re on the run, they actually ran down to my ankles during the run.

The seamless design of the socks helps prevent blisters and skin irritation while featuring thermal regulating enhancements that keeps your feet from getting too hot or cold. The trail running socks are designed using a patented knitting technique that creates a support zone around the arch and ankle that adjusts to your foot shape to increase comfort and enhance support while running.

Another feature worth mentioning is how the socks fit; it almost has a compression sock feel to it. It’s very snug on the feet but offers just the right amount of support in the arch and ankle areas.
