Coco Libre is the maker of organic coconut water, but more recently, they came out with Coco Libre Protein, which features our Organic Coconut water + 20g of Grass Fed Milk Protein + 23 vitamins & minerals (and all with no added sugar). According to their website, “each refreshing drop contains a natural balance of electrolytes…K, Na, Mg, Ca and P to hydrate and replenish the body’s fluids.” I know a lot of individuals who workout and will drink different kinds of protein shakes as part of their routine. I have never been a fan of protein shakes or bars (they just don’t taste good!) But if I can have it mixed into a coconut water, which I do like, then why not?
Coco Libre Protein comes in 3 flavors: chocolate, vanilla and almond. I shouldn’t have been surprised, but when I first tried one, it really did taste like a combination of a protein drink and coconut water, but not as strong as one by itself. Is that a bad thing? Not necessarily. If you are looking just for a protein fix, then you’d probably just stick to the shake or bar. But combining it with a coconut water which can help with hydration, then it is just an added benefit. I’m not exactly sure how much of a price difference (if any) there is compared to regular coconut water, but I suppose even if it’s just a little bit more, the additional protein and nutritional benefits make it worth it. Coco Libre is sold at most grocery stores if you’re interested in trying it for yourself.
