Good info, too bad I can't stop running. Mine feel like the guy not being able to put his pants on in the morning. The muscle feels like its sliding up and down the leg. Every step I take while running the pain gets worse, but I cant' stop and I won't. People, seriously consider avoiding this painful injury. 19 weeks left for me, ice has become my friend and I wish I'd have known that taking the antiflams made things worse.

All great info. I have some slight shin pain right now, and I know it's from old(ish) shoes. My new ones come on Tuesday, and I can't wait.

Very informative post, would have really helped me when I started running. Resting, increasing mileage slowly and avoiding concrete were the main things that helped me with my shin splints.

Informative post. Shin splits are not fun at all. Rest seems the only way to really help the situation.

Another treatment option is physical therapy. They are trained in treating just this sort of injury and will help you get back to pain free running as soon as possible.
