[...] the whole race. What happened was that I ran a 5:55 first mile! If you look at the one time I ran a mile on the track all out, I hit a 6:01. That just shows how much I improved and how fast I started off in this race. [...]

@lindsay You seem to be a glass half full type of person, which is good. Of course, there's good things going on in the world, it's just harder to find :)

Wow, 2-mile warmup? That's intense. I should have warmed up more though, I don't even think I broke a sweat during those two laps!

LOL, no, the track that I ran wasn't in the ghetto. However, when I did run in high school in LA, it was. So I probably carried over whatever paranoia I had from the past. But...if you do see someone being suspicious and you're at the very opposite end of the track, you'll have to be able to sprint that 100-200 meters to catch them. But I'm sure you can do it!

i totally agree - i hate the news for it's ever negative headlines. it contributes to the fear we tend to live in today, even though there are plenty of good things going on in the world too.

nice job on the mile time trial/race! i can't believe you felt warmed up after a 1/2 mile warm up. i'd need 2 miles at least before i can convince my legs to pick it up.

is your track in the ghetto? ;) when i go to the track i just put my water bottle and keys down in the grass next to the track. other people do it too so i've never been too worried, plus i can see if someone is hanging out near them and being suspicious. both of the tracks i go to are pretty open though, and that probably helps too.

anyway, glad the running is going well in present-day!
